Orono will host Schenck in rematch of four overtime game

The Schenck Wolverines and Orono Red Riots played the game of the season when they met at Schenck high school in East Millinocket on January 5th.

Elea Kass scored 24 points including hitting two free throws with seven seconds left in the fourth overtime on that exciting night to lift the Red Riots to an 89-88 victory.

The two teams will meet again on Friday evening at Orono high school.

Orono (12-1) is currently ranked third in the MPA class C standings. The only loss for the Red Riots came against undefeated Dexter on December 22nd.

Schenck (9-2) is currently ranked fifth in the MPA class D standings. The Wolverines could be tough in the class D tournament. They have been competitive with some of the top class C teams including Orono.

Jillian Woodward is the leader for the Red Riots. She is the only senior on coach Jessica Witham's roster.

Sophomore Katie Sypher, junior Katie Smith and freshman Hannah Clement are part of a strong nucleus for the Red Riots.

Kristin Thompson is the only senior on the Schenck roster. Morgan Thompson is the leading scorer for the Wolverines. She scored 22 in the early season loss to Orono.

Thompson, Olivia Lewis, Mackenzie Bell, Katie Stanley, Katelynn Michaud and Ashley Leavitt are part of a strong junior class for coach Darrick Thompson's Wolverines.
