DEXTER--- Cam Mowrer and Christian Mowrer combined for 307 yards rushing and two touchdowns in leading the Orono Red Riots football team to a 30-8 victory over the Dexter Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
"Smash mouth football, that is what we do best,"Christian Mowrer said. "Our coach says punch them in the mouth, that is what we did today."
Christian Mowrer gave the Red Riots a lead when he capped off a 9 play/80 yard drive with a 14 yard touchdown run with 3:23 remaining in the first quarter.
The Red Riots had 327 yards and 16 first downs in the first half. Dexter had 15 yards and one first down in the first half.
"Coach Sinclai is tough, his boys are tough,"Dexter coach Kevin Armstrong said. "We just didn't have an answer for them in the first half. Our team physically did not have an answer for what they were throwing at us"
The Red Riots took a 16-0 lead when Collin Clement scored on a 3 yard run with 1:10 remaining in the first quarter. Clement finished with 56 yards on 13 carries.
Orono coach Bob Sinclair said, "We were pleased with the way Collin Clement ran the ball today."
Cam Mowrer finished off the first half scoring when he ran into the end-zone from seven yards out with 1:52 remaining in the second quarter.
"We are all healthy, we are back now,"Cam Mowrer said. "We came into the season facing a lot of adversity. We need to stay healthy."
Cam Mowrer finished with 170 yards on 19 carries. Christian Mowrer rushed for 137 yards on 15 carries.
"They (Cam and Christian) were in an Eastern Maine title game when they were sophomores,"Sinclair said. "We rely a lot on them. We were pretty happy with the ground game."
Lewis Hanson scored on a 12 yard run in the fourth quarter for Orono
Tom Lucy had two interceptions for the Red Riots.
Orono (3-3) will travel to Mount View next week.
Trevor Fogarty threw for 163 yards and one touchdown on 9-23 passing for Dexter.
Sinclair said. "He (Fogarty) is the most illusive quarterback I have seen in the LTC in a long time."
Freshman Zachary White finished with 57 yards and one touchdown on four catches for the Tigers. Matt Bartlett had two interceptions.
Dexter (3-3) will travel to Mattanawcook next week.
