Orlando weekend fun, part 2: Mardi Gras at Universal Studios Florida

Mardi Gras officially started last Tuesday in Louisiana, but Universal Orlando Resort has been celebrating it for the past four weeks. The party continues this Saturday with the gala parade, street performers, Cajun food, and a musical performance by Prince Royce.

Click the video accompanying this article to see the full parade. Once you've watched it and caught a stash of beads, you can head over to the main stage near the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster to stake out your concert spot. It's first come, first served, and the music is included with your regular admission ticket.

Don't forget to enjoy some tasty Cajun cuisine before the parade and show. It's just spicy enough to tingle your taste buds without being too overwhelming for those who are a bit food-shy. I highly recommend having some of the colorful king cake for dessert.

The Mardi Gras festivities start in the afternoon, so come to the park early to enjoy all the rides and shows. Then you can grab photos with the stiltwalkers and other street performers, listen to the New Orleans bands, and graze on authentic cuisine till parade and show time.

If you're hankering for beer this weekend, see what's happening at SeaWorld Orlando in this article. For movie festivities at Legoland Florida, jump here.
