Orlando, capital of fun in the sun, is still growing and offering visitors even more as summer approaches. Here’s a look at what’s new and what’s coming in the next two months.
SeaWorld Orlando – The biggest expansion ever of all the SeaWorld parks will open on May 24. Empire of the Penguin is a state-of-the-art interactive ride that takes guests on an adventure to the Antarctic by following a young penguin through danger and beauty like nowhere else on Earth. Along with the ride is a new “realm” offering a variety of new
experiences in the coldest theme park attraction in the world.
Universal Orlando – This summer Universal’s newest attraction, TRANSFORMERS: The Ride 3D - will open as well, along with appearances of the more than nine foot tall Optimus Prime and Bumblebee characters (that will interact and take photos with guests).
Walt Disney World – The new Fantasyland is now open and includes Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid, a new ride featuring Ariel and friends, and Enchanted Tales with Belle, where guests reenact Belle’s story. Other new areas are the Be Our Guest Restaurant and Gaston’s Tavern, both inspired by Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” story.
Kennedy Space Center – Angry Birds Space Encounter now offers seven interactive exhibits featuring the characters of the popular Angry Birds game. On June 29, Kennedy Space Center will open its new, $100 million, 90,000 sq. ft. home for the Space Shuttle Atlantis.
KINGS Bowl Orlando – Opening April 15, KINGS Bowl Orlando, with 1950s-1960s nostalgic décor, is part of the new I-Drive project. The boutique bowling venue will feature 22 lanes, a full-service restaurant, full-sized billiard tables, a regulation-sized shuffleboard table, an outdoor bocce ball court, and weekend DJs and dancing.
