Orlando’s live music options just get better and better

It’s still only January and there have already been so many great shows on the schedule for live local music in Orlando. This coming week, January 20-26, is no exception. In fact, someone needs to hurry up and invent cloning before the weekend.

There are two Orlando bands with current campaigns going on Kickstarter. SoulSwitch only has a little time left to reach their goal and they still are a long way away from their $25,000 goal, so now is the time to check out their project page and rewards. Orlando singer/songwriter Billy Floyd has raised almost half of his $2000 goal and he still has a few weeks left on his campaign. Hopefully local music fans will get both of them over the top before time runs out.

On Friday, they are trying out something new at Will’s Pub, The Quarterly. The Quarterly will feature five different up and coming comedians from Orlando, and potentially nationally, as well as a local band. This first edition will be hosted by Tom Feeney and showcase Nick Pupo, Matt Gersting, Ross Martin, Jacob Galang and Jordan Cole Ensminger followed by live music from Orlando band The Plush Monsters. It’s a very cool idea and will hopefully catch on.

Friday and Saturday the Orlando based booking and promotion company, Norse Korea, is celebrating their three year anniversary. They have shows scheduled at four local venues, The BackBooth, The Social, Will’s Pub and Lil’ Indies. Special two day passes for the Norse Korea anniversary events are available online at backbooth.com.

On Saturday at one of the Norse Korea anniversary parties is the debut show for a new Orlando band, Festivals. The new band is made up of Orlando music scene veterans, Ian Paul, Noah Kussack, Beau Rothman and Bennett Newsome.

Saturday is the final show for Orlando band Andy Matchett & The Minks at The Orange Studio. This is one of the few bands who will pull out all the stops and really put the “show” in showmanship. It is something to experience.

Also on Saturday is the long awaited and highly anticipated EP release show from Orlando singer/songwriter Reggie Williams. He will be celebrating the release of “The All Of Us” with a show at H2O Live. More information about this event is in this Examiner.com article.
