Several local Orlando bands have signed up to play Beast Fest, a 24-hour fundraiser at Austins Coffee and Film in Orlando. The event runs from 10 am February 23 until 10 a.m. February 24. The event is a benefit for Karyna Santana, a local Orlando artist and musician, who was critically injured in a collision with a Jeep while riding her bicycle.
The Orlando bands that have signed up so far to be a part of this event are The Plush Monsters, Zap Dragon and the Attack, The Trailer Park Refugees, Afeefa and the Boy, Lauren Carder, Sam Byck and the Tricky Dickies and Bella Sutra. More performers are expected to sign on.
“We wanted to be a part of it because we all know Karyna,” said David Zimlinghaus of Zap Dragon and the Attack. “She has always been incredibly kind to us and a fun person to be around. I think what we are looking forward to the most with this show is seeing so many people lending their help for Karyna.”
Aside from the live music there will also be local vendors, artists, food, contests, raffles, a poetry vending machine and bicycle safety awareness info.
Donations are also being accepted for the Karyna Santana Fund online at this Indiegogo page.
Austins Coffee and Film is located at 929 W. Fairbanks Ave. in Orlando.
