You're no doubt familiar with wine tasting, and perhaps even beer or tequila tasting, but olive oil and balsamic vinegar? That might sound like an odd concept until you step into The Ancient Olive, a quaint little shop in Winter Park. It's on the Orlando Food Tours agenda, and it came as a surprise to me...until I discovered the amazing world of flavored olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

There's actual food involved in this stop, too, as you can see in the slideshow accompanying this article. There was a lovely limone pasta with lemon-infused olive oil, tasty cranberry orange muffins with lemon olive oil, and baked brie topped with blaak onion jam and fig balsamic that was out of this world for a cheese fanatic like me.

I loved the food, but tasting the different types of infused olive oils and balsamic vinegars was definitely the best part. I felt like the adult version of a kid in a candy store. With so many different varieties, from black and white truffle to coconut to espresso to jalapeno to chocolate, I couldn't wait to see how each flavor would tingle my taste buds. Better yet, you can combine them for even more exciting taste treats.

This is a store that I'll definitely return to, and if you take the food tour, you'll likely want to head back as well, especially if you love to cook. It opens so many new possibilities of adding flavors a special zest to your recipes.

Alas, it was time to move on all too quickly, but the next stop, The Spice and Tea Exchange, had plenty of taste treats, too. You can read more about it and see a slideshow, or visit any of the stops, by using the link list below:
