An invitation to any event is great, but Origins consistently comes up with beguiling gatherings that leave you dying to run out of the house and experience them. This time it was an invitation to attend an early morning yoga session at the Anti-Gravity Yoga Lab in Mid-Town Manhattan.

In the tiny yoga lab, we were introduced to Wendy Brooks, who is Origins’ Director of Product Development, a tiny blonde with a youthful heart-shaped face and warm personality. Bottles of tasty Naked juice smoothies and nutty Kind energy bars were available for snacking. I could see into the exercise room and realized that we were going to be flying like Pink singing Sober at the MTV awards to celebrate the Plantscription line’s new Powerful Lifting Cream.

Before we started exercising, Wendy told us about the cream and its benefits. Much like the inversion moves that we’d soon be practicing, the cream was all about plumping up aging skin and refreshing the face by softening lines and wrinkles. While stretching and exercising tone the body, Powerful Lifting Cream works to restore volume to sagging skin.We all want to pretend that age doesn't happen, the over 50 age bracket is rising and they don’t plan on getting wrinkles. Starting a good skincare regimen in your 20s can make a significant difference later on.

The small class learned how to sit in the silky hammock, and then progressed to graceful stretching exercises enhanced by the fact that we were floating a few feet off the ground. The stretchy material holding us up acted as a rubber band, launching pad, and cocoon at various stages of the class. It was a relaxing, luxurious way update of the ancient practice of yoga. After the class, refreshed and happy, we were given Cory Vines athletic gear and a full size jar of the cream to take home.

Enriched with shea and mango seed butter, Origins also uses Commifora from India and Hyalurnic Acid Complex to plump skin. The main ingredient is the African Anogeissus extract, sourced from Ghana. While I can’t yet say whether or not the cream is lifting my face, I can wholeheartedly endorse it for its dense, luxuriously rich texture which goes on smoothly (apply in upward strokes, I learned that from an aesthetician at my favorite spa). I think that you get a lot for your money, and I definitely feel that along with a good cleansing ritual, this cream will leave skin feeling softer and somewhat refreshed.

Planstcriptions Powerful Lifting Cream is in stores now and priced at $59.50 for a generously filled 1.7 ounce jar. Available at Sephora and Macy’s.
