Race souvenirs typically include things like programs, ticket stubs, or maybe even a T-shirt you bought at the track. Following Sunday's AMP Energy 500, Talladega is offering a limited number of a different kind of souvenir.
The track's frontstretch grandstands will undergo a major renovation following the race, making some of the old seats available for sale.
"Ever since we announced our grandstand renovation project, our fans have inquired about purchasing the old seats," Talladega Superspeedway President Rick Humphrey said.
The seats that will be sold have been a part of the grandstands since the track opened for the inaugural Talladega 500 in 1969.
Only 1,000 of the seats will be sold. They will be available in sets of four for $99, and each set will come with a certificate of authenticity. Orders for seats can be placed at www.talladegasuperspeedway.com/My1969DegaSeats
"We are offering a limited number, so anyone that wants to own a piece of history needs to act fast," Humphrey said.
Seats will be sold "as is" and purchaser must pick them up in person. No seats will be shipped.
