Original Guns N' Roses drummer bringing his appetite to Clicks

Music fans hungry for a heavy dose of good ol' Rock N' Roll can start licking their chops. Steven Adler is bringing his appetite to San Antonio.

Adler, the original drummer for Guns N' Roses, and his band Adler's Appetite are slated to play Clicks on Saturday, June 25 (details below). They are expected to perform GNR's 1987 debut Appetite For Destruction in its entirety. The album, one of hard rock and metal's most noted and biggest-selling records of all-time, spawned timeless classics such as Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child O' Mine and Paradise City, along with other catchy rockers Rocket Queen, Mr. Brownstone and Out Ta Get Me. The latter was covered by Halestorm on an EP called ReAnimate that was released in March. Mr. Brownstone is often covered live around town by San Antonio's Drive.

Adler's Appetite also features Chip Znuff of Enuff Znuff on bass and ex-Faster Pussycat member Michael Thomas on guitars. Thomas played with Faster Pussycat at Backstage Live's grand opening on March 18, 2010, as that band opened for the Tracii Guns version of L.A. Guns (see review with slideshow below).

Adler's Appetite recruited a new singer and second guitarist last month. Former vocalist Rich Stitch left to concentrate on his band Ladyjack, while guitarist Alex Grossi decided to put his efforts into the reformed Quiet Riot, which will take part in the South Texas Rock Fest at Sunken Garden Theater on Oct. 7 (see link at bottom). Replacing the pair is Patrick Stone on vocals and Lonny Paul on guitars.

Adler will become the second original member of Guns N' Roses to play San Antonio this year. Slash's solo band opened for Ozzy Osbourne on Jan. 24 at the AT&T Center.

Adler was fired by GNR singer W. Axl Rose in 1990 due to his persistent drug use. Adler has since had stints on "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" and written a tell-all autobiography, "My Appetite For Destruction."

Adler and Znuff were on Season 5 of VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show" last year when that episode's segment of Stump the Trunk provided a humorously embarrassing moment for co-host Eddie Trunk.

Whenever Trunk fails to answer a question correctly, the member of the audience who stumped him reaches into a box and pulls out a prize. In one such instance, a contestant pulled out a CD entitled Welcome To Blue Island, the cover of which has a drawing of a smiling sun. Trunk, sitting next to Adler and Znuff, asked incredulously, "What is that?" Znuff raised his hand and said, "Enuff Znuff." Trunk then responded, "Oh, that's your record?" Znuff nodded and said, "Came out in 2005" (actually 2003). Watch that clip here.

Adler's Appetite released a self-titled EP in 2005, plus three new original tracks late last year, highlighted by the intense rocker Alive.
