Holy memorabilia, Caped Crusader fans!
Rick Champagane, a Phoenix businessman and car collector, became the owner of the first Batmobile for $4.6 million inside the Barrett-Jackson house at an auction in Scottsboro, Arizona over the weekend.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the original Batmobile tied the 2010 record of James Bond's Aston Martin from 1964's Goldfinger as the highest price ever for a movie car in an auction.
This preceding Batmobile was the "star car" for ABC's Batman with Adam West, who played the kid-friendly superhero with such tongue-in-cheek from 1966 to 1968 ... before Batman became the Dark Knight we all know and love thanks to the direction of Tim Burton, Joel Schumacher, and the Nolan brothers with Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, and Christian Bale as billionaire Bruce Wayne, who fights the criminals and the corrupt in Gotham City as Batman, a symbol of revenge and justice to honor and avenge the death of his parents Thomas and Martha.
