Laughs and orgasms are some of life’s greatest joys. They affect our overall well-being and give us a sense of joy and contentment. Hopefully you get to experience both of these joys often, but it’s no secret that women struggle achieving orgasm at a higher rate than men. Many women have become satisfied with being unsatisfied with sex. Take Jess C Scott’s quote for example, “I'm just another female faking orgasms to make a man not feel so inadequate.” This quote sums up a lot about sexual relations and man’s ego in satisfying women. If you haven’t already heard, there is a new movement in regards to sex, flow, and relationships. When I say new movement, I am referring to Orgasmic Meditation, or OM.
The word orgasm stems from the Greek word ‘orgasmos’ meaning “excitement swelling.” Studies show that orgasms for women last longer than men and last an average of 20 seconds. The period after the orgasm is known as the ‘refractory period’ and is often relaxing due to the release of neuro-hormones, such as oxytocin, prolactin, and endorphins. OM is a 15 minute session of gentle clitoral stimulation that leads to a flood of positive good feelings and is often referred to as “yoga for orgasms.” This is much deeper than just foreplay-this involves both the woman and her partner engaging in something fun, exciting and stimulating for both the mind and body. Individuals who experience OM have reported the following benefits: increased vitality, increased energy, reduced stress and irritability and increased intimacy with their partner.
One Taste, founded in San Francisco by Nicole Daedone in 2001, is a business dedicated to researching and teaching the practices of orgasmic meditation and slow sex. Their goal is to create an environment where sexuality and intimacy can be discussed openly and honestly. In connection with their mission, One Taste is presenting a conference entitled “Orgasmic Meditation Xperience”. The OM Xperience annual conference takes place on March 28th through the 30th at the Oakland Scottish Rite Center near Lake Merritt. The theme for this year is flow which relates to the optimal state of human potential and power orgasm to access it.
The OM Xperience will be filled with three days of entertainment, community, and OM as well as speaking presentations from experts that range from Hollywood Actress Gabrielle Anwar, authors Steven Kotter and Neill Strauss, and psychiatrist Reef Karim. Everything from shopping, yoga, intimacy parties with a DJ and orgasmic meditation will also be showcased. This is a great event that will give you and your partner the opportunity to share and establish a connection on a deeper level. Besides, it sounds like a lot of fun about an exciting topic; this conference can be a new, fun and adventurous outlet for you and your partner and can also help you add to your sexual skill toolbox. There is always more to learn and explore, so check out the movement! Go to www.onetaste.us for more information on OM and watch testamonials from actual OM’ers. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to the One Taste Foundation, which exists to convert trauma into triumph through practices of narrative therapy and Orgasmic meditation.
