Organizers of the Dallas Marathon have announced that the race, which was to be held this Sunday, December 8, will be canceled due to weather.
The organizers posted an announcement on its Facebook page, noting that, "due to current weather conditions, and forecasted conditions for Saturday and Sunday, as of today at 12:40 p.m., the decision has been collaboratively made to cancel the 2013 MetroPCS Dallas Marathon."
Earlier today, organizers had announced that the Expo was delayed until 2 p.m. today. With the cancellation of the marathon, the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon Health & Fitness Expo has also been canceled.
The race attracts 25,000 participants in its marathon, and also hosts a half-marathon and five-person relay. According to the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon website, "refunds will not be made in the case of inclement weather cancellations."
The Weather Channel forecasts a high of 32 degrees and freezing drizzle on Saturday. On Sunday, when the race was to be held, the high is 40 degrees and cloudy, with a 10 percent chance of rain.
