It’s hard enough to find time to work on projects. Add to it looking around for ‘this’ or tripping over piles of ‘that’ and the time just slips away. It’s a lot easier to enjoy your creating time if your “stuff” is organized.
Today a YahooGroup friend, Bonita, turned me on to the weekly Organize Your Stuff Challenge created by Stacy on her My Love Affair with the Label Maker blog.
The challenge was designed with scrapbookers, stampers, and paper crafters extraordinaire in mind. This week’s challenge focuses on paper storage. I currently use five different methods for storing paper in my creative dungeon and could really benefit with having one or two efficient solutions.
Of course, I wish I could just start with paper, but I need to start at the beginning like everyone else and do a Space Audit. I know it sounds daunting, but Stacy does a great job breaking it down for us.
She posts new challenge details every Monday, but recognizes that some challenges will take longer than a week to complete. Organizing your brads or paints might be quick, while organizing your photos, stamps, or paper could take quite a bit longer.
Although the challenge is on week 4, all of the previous challenges are listed so you can start today with week 1.
As Stacy says, it’s time for us to overhaul our creative areas and “get back to doing what we LOVE, instead of tripping over piles of paper and brads. Once you get organized, it is SO much easier to scrap and scrap effectively.”
It doesn't matter if you have a closet or an entire room to work with, the organizational tips can benefit everyone.
My creative dungeon could definitely use an overhaul. My basement is not finished, although my darling husband keeps telling me to box stuff up so he can build walls and shelves. This challenge just might be what I need to turn my creative dungeon into a place my creative haven.
It may not be easy, but I'm sure the result will be well worth it!
