The GLBT support organization Affirmations has partnered with the Ferndale Career Center of Michigan Works to offer employment workshops the week before the LGBT Midwest Job Expo.
On Tuesday, June 12, Michigan Works in Ferndale will offer two one-hour workshops designed to better equip job seekers for success when they attend the June 21 Expo.
Because a resume is a critical part of any job search the first workshop, being presented at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Resume Essentials will be offered. Instructors promise to show “how to create a resume that makes a positive first impression and highlights the best of what you have to offer a potential employer.”
It is followed one hour later by The 2-Minute Interview. The purpose of this session is to show how to talk with potential employers during the brief period you are in front of them at the job fair. They will discuss the most important ways for you to use your time with the recruiter.
