Peek-a-boo, it's a soft and cuddly knit blanket pattern for baby, in machine washable pure cotton yarn, available in four natural organic colors direct from Mother Nature herself. With x's and o's in a simple knit and purl stitch design, this worsted weight organic cotton baby blanket wraps little ones in hugs and kisses, a free pattern designed by Carey Huffman, mother and knitting designer.
Carey was first a knitted toy designer and since becoming a mother has started designing useful baby and toddler patterns. Her toys are amusingly bright and modern, perfect knitted gifts for baby's room. Carey's Full of Fluff can be found on Facebook along with info on her many pattern design links. Knitnscribble found this easy blanket pattern on Petite Purls' free childrens' pattern site. It begins with a simple five-stitch cast on with a US 8 (5 mm) 40" circular needle.
The pattern requires 6 skeins of Knit Picks Simply Organic Cotton yarn ($4.99 per skein) for this 30" square baby blanket. The blanket can also be knit in a vast array of colored yarn, which has an organic cotton base but has been dyed in heather tones. Organic cotton yarn has gone up in price since the floods in Australia last year, so Knit Picks price is very reasonable for 164 yds per 100 gram ball. But there's a sale tomorrow at Fresh Purls.
In Rhode Island, find organic cotton yarn at Fresh Purls in Providence. Open from 10 am to 4:30, Fresh Purls is located at 769A Hope Street in Providence, RI.
