Oregon young woman and her Labrador dog credited with saving boy from drowning

Kerri Cooper and her Labrador retriever mix are definitely heroes and have been credited with saving the life of a two year old toddler on Friday when they saw the unaccompanied child walking towards ducks in a nearby pond in their apartment complex located at 18700 NW Rock Creek Circle in Portland.

According to the Oregonlive.com, it was actually Cooper's dog, Lucy who started barking loudly while looking out the window of their apartment. That's when Cooper, 23, saw the child and yelled for the youngster to stop. Cooper raced out of her second story residence, and by the time she reached the pond, the child had already fallen in. Cooper jumped in fully clothed and rescued the child.

The child's grandmother, Rochelle Huegli had been looking for her grandson, but according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Huegli had been drinking and had fallen asleep. That's when the little boy slipped out of her apartment.
