Oregon in top 10 states where gas prices are plunging

As of today, April 7, USA Today has been listed Oregon among the top 10 states where gas prices are going down the most. This is surprising since Oregon was listed as one of the most expensive states to live in 2012 with one of the highest transportation costs in the country.

Oregon, despite having no refineries within the boundaries of the state, has seen a decrease in the cost of gasoline this year. Since 2012, the cost per gallon has gone down by an average of 39 cents. This is a huge relief to Oregon drivers who can see savings of almost $8 per tank of gas. It may not seem like a huge savings but over the course of the year it can really add up. "I can fill the tank all the way up today," says Jim Bradshaw, while waiting for his full tank at the local Arco gas station on Burnside and 181st in Northeast Portland.

As reported by USA Today, Oregon ranks #2 in gas price decreases at 9.4%, only being led by Indiana with decreases reported at 11.6%. At this rate, we may see gas prices under $3 per gallon again before the year is out. That would certainly make for great summer road trips if this decrease in prices continues as projected.
