Oregon teen dies in an apparent hunting accident (Photos)

According to Kptv.com, a 19-year-old dead in a possible hunting accident in Boring, Oregon on April 13. The report states that the Clackamas County Sheriff's office received a call around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday evening about the incident. On the scene deputies found the 19-year-old victim shot and 100 feet down a ravine. A rope rescue was performed, but the unnamed victim died on the way to the hospital. Fox 12 also reports that a sheriff's office spokesman says all the parties involved in the shooting are being cooperative with the investigation.

According to Familiesafield.org, 16,300,000 hunted in 2010, and of those there were 8,122 injuries. That means 50 out of every 100,000 hunters were injured in 2010. The report also lists hunting third on their top ten list for safest activities. Putting it ahead of bowling, running/jogging and golf to name a few.

Guns aren't the only dangers a hunter faces while out in the field. Things like heart attacks, tree stand falls, and animal attacks also pose a real threat.
