As he continues to write about life, love, and disappointment he has expanded his career into teaching and consulting other hopeful lyricists. Last year he was invited to teach a lyric class for the University of Miami. Distance isn't a problem as much of this is done through Skype.
He has not put his singing career on any back burner. Carothers continues to tour six months out of the year and also plays once a month at Nashville's Bluebird Cafe. The Bluebird Cafe is internationally known for songwriters and is featured on ABC's television show titled Nashville.
Carothers' songs have a soft approach and sometimes an unexpected humorous twist. Songs such as She Needs Me renders listeners into a smile and a laugh. It is Carothers' bold style to say just what is on his mind that attracts fans especially those that couldn't say it any better. Songs such as I am Gonna Tell Her if You Won’t, Angels Never Fall in Love, Don’t Come Back and Give it Back, that demonstrate his ability to evoke powerful emotion. All of these songs are available on ITunes.
