Oregon not coming to Mackay this fall

The Oregon Ducks will not be coming to Mackay Stadium this fall.

The Register-Guard newspaper in Eugene, Ore., is reporting that the Ducks have replaced the Wolf Pack on their 2013 non-conference schedule this fall with a game at Charlottesville, Va., on Sept. 7 in Charlottesville, Va.

The absence of the game leaves a huge void on the Pack's home schedule this fall. It had been long reported by various media outlets, though, that the Wolf Pack was trying to get out of playing the game against the Ducks in order to soften its schedule.

The Pack is also trying to get out of playing at Florida State this fall. The Wolf Pack, though, must find a new opponent for the Seminoles to play in order to avoid the trip to Tallahassee, Fla., or suffer a $600,000 penalty.

The Pack will continue to host UC Davis at Mackay Stadium this fall.

Oregon beat the Wolf Pack 69-20 on Sept. 10, 2011 in the last meeting between the two schools. The Ducks own a 6-1 edge in the series with the long Pack victory coming in 1947. Oregon has made one trip to Reno, beating the Wolf Pack 24-20 in 1997.

It is not known whether or not the Ducks and Wolf Pack have set a date for any future meetings.
