The Oregon Ferret Shelter in Oregon City has many pet ferrets looking for a home. If you are looking to adopt a new family pet, please consider getting a pre-owned fuzzy from this local Portland-area shelter.
Ferret adoptions are available for $100 through 3 years of age, and $60 for ages 4 and up. Right now, the shelter is having a special on 5-year-old and older ferrets at $30 each.
The adoption fee covers:
- spaying or neutering
- a coupon for a free visit to our veterinarian (Full Circle Vet at http://fullcirclevets.com/)
- a current distemper shot
- an AVID microchip that you can have registered in your name
The Oregon Ferret Shelter typically has more than 150 ferrets available for adoption. Right now, they have around 150 adoptable candidates (not including sick or elderly ferrets who for some reason cannot be adopted out). The selection is huge, all kinds of colors and temperaments.
All adoptions are by appointment only. Please call (503) 557-8369 to schedule one. The regular shelter hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., but the shelter staff will work with your schedule too. The shelter is attached to the home of Chris and Dave Mathis in Oregon City at 17560 S Holly Lane, Oregon City, OR 97045.
Before they let you take one of their ferrets home, the shelter will make sure that you are ready for the pet. Their adoption form covers many basic questions, such as whether you have owned ferrets before, if you have other pets, if you have permission from your landlord (if you need it), and even such basics as if you have a cage ready for them at home. It's important to the shelter staff that you know what you are getting into and that your transition into ferret ownership is a smooth one.
