Michael Brennan, 50, started the non-profit, “Matthew M. Brennan Foundation” following the death of his son, Matthew. Sadly, that charitable organization was in reality scamming dozens of innocent donors.
The website for the 501 (c) 3 declares:
"Our goal is to educate, raise awareness, be an advocate and help advance and establish much needed solutions.”
The evil doesn’t stop there. The elder Brennan is also accused of committing food stamp fraud and worst of all, stealing funds from his 65-year-old, paraplegic, wheelchair-bound father-in-law. Brennan used the money he stole from his father-in-law for personal use including buying a home.
Brennan maintained the donations to the non-profit would benefit veterans and Soldiers with post-traumatic stress disorder, but law enforcement authorities allege Brennan used most, if not all of it, for personal gain.
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone, within Oregon or nationwide, who could have been victimized in this scam to call their office at 503-723-4949.
