Oregon election results: Democrats did well in Oregon, as was expected. However, the Oregon Governor's race still remains too close to call. As of Wednesday afternoon, Democrat John Kitzhaber and Republican Chris Dudley were in a dead heat.
However, the Oregonian is reporting that Kitzhaber appears to have the edge as vote-counting continues. Kitzhaber is expected to make up the winning difference as tens of thousands of votes remain to be tallied in Democrat-rich Multnomah County, where he has been getting 70 percent of the vote.
In Oregon's congressional races the majority of Democratic candidates won including David Wu, District 1; Earl Blumenauer, District 3; Peter DeFazio, District 4; and Kurt Schrader, District 5. The sole Republican seat was that of incumbent House member Greg Walden of District two. Walden had kept his seat since late 90s.
DeFazio's victory is particularly sweet. Defazio faced a well financed Tea Party candidate, Oregon Republican Art Robinson. Robinson enjoyed the support of big business billionaire backers Charles and David Koch.
As for the governor's race, John Kitzhaber is Oregon's best choice for Governor. John Kitzhaber is the only candidate with the knowledge and experience to lead Oregon in 2010 and beyond.
While Chris Dudley might be an attractive personality and a friendly face, he simply lacks the experience the job demands.

I will just comment on the Kithaber is Oregon's best choice for govenor. I think that is a lot of hog-wash. I am an Oregonian born and raised and quite frankly the democrats have accomplished nothing but higher taxation and higher taxation. Portland may be sitting pretty but the rest of the state is in dire straits and higher taxes won't get us out. I have heard nothing of kithaber's vision for Oregon it is time to have some ne w blood in the governorship and maybe someone that realizes there is an Oregon state outside Portland and Salem. Just because a person has the job does not mean they are the most qualified. Dudley has little experience but so did Kithaber at one time. I am willing to give the guy a chance he ceratinly can not do worse!
I find the left wing bias in this article offensive. You are supposed to be a journalist, but this is an editorial at best.
Hi Donna,
I write commentary, and I make no effort to hide my progressive bias.
Thanks for reading.
Well, the name of the periodical he writes for is the "Portland _Progressive_ Examiner". I think the bias is not only implied, but expected. The notion of unbiased journalism is a fairly modern invention, and a self-imposed rule at that. There is no actual law that states journalists must be impartial in their reporting. It is simply a standard many mainstream news outlets have chosen to adopt. The PPE probably makes no pretense of being mainstream or unbiased. It's readership picks up this paper specifically because they are looking for a particular point of view. Both types of journalism have their place, I think.
Mikey's over the top bias makes me wonder if he just writes this stuff to generate responses, or if he really believes it. It is a scarey thought that even one person thinks like Mikey writes, it is down right terrifying to think there might be others out there who would be willing to sign on to Mikey's pontification.
It is discouraging that those of us who live the real world and actually work every day, have so much of our lives controlled by the pinkos in Multnomah County and Lane county, who really have a sick concept of what it really means to be a citizen of the United States.
Perhaps if candidates had spoken more and there had been less negative ads the people could determine whether Chris Dudley had the experience to administrate the state. But to say,"John Kitzhaber is the only candidate with the knowledge and experience to lead Oregon in 2010 and beyond. " is a little naive. It is similar to saying that experience gained in other arenas does not translate into the public arena. The author is obviously campaigning for Kitzhaber and using his newspaper column to advertise for a candidate rather than any kind of fair and balance reporting.
