Good bartenders often receive great tips, but a windfall tip from a regular customer is just not ordinary to say the least. But Reutgers Gavino Garay reported that is exactly what happened to Aurora Kephart, bartender at Conway’s Restaurant and Lounge in Springfield, Oregon when she received a winning Keno ticket worth $17,500 as her tip.
The regular customer, who wishes to remain anonymous has often tipped Kephart with unplayed state lottery Keno tickets. After the customer handed the ticket to Kephart, she gave it back to and indicated she could not take it. Kephart said, “And he had me sign it and said you’re the only one that can cash it now.”
Restaurant owner George Conway said of Kephart, “[She’s] One of our very best employees and she’s been here almost four years.”
Kephart gave the customer part of the winnings, and plans to continue working at Conway’s. She has been shopping for furniture, plans to buy a couch, and will save the rest of the money.
