NewMusic USA and the League of American Orchestras are teaming to bring Chicago residents a special musical event.

The event is MLK Celebration – Going to a Freedom March to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and his legacy toward civil rights.

Along with Chicago Modern Orchestra Project’s Renee Baker, music director, they are presenting composer-in-residence Gregg Wramage.

Wramage will premiere In Shadows, In Silence, his groundbreaking sextet work for chamber orchestra.
The performance will take place on Saturday January 18th at Dominican University Performing Arts Center in River Forest. The show commences at 7 p.m.

Tenor Roderick Hawkins and soprano Taylor Carter will also be featured.

A mission of Renee Baker is ‘to excite and encourage new audiences with their own brand of “out-of-the-box” programming’.

For tickets, visit chicagomodernorchestraproject.org or call the Dominican University box office at 708.488.5000. Tickets will also be available at the door on the night.

Audiences will also be able to meet the composer during a reception. This will be held after the concert along with a lecture in Martin Hall.
