'Orange is the New Black' season 2 premiere date and new trailer revealed

It's the news that 'Orange is the New Black' fans have been waiting for, a premiere date for the second season. According to E! Online, Netflix decided to announce the June 6th premiere date after the premiere of its other wildly popular original series, 'House of Cards'.

The second season of the Netflix original series will be June 6th

There has been no shortage of speculation on when the Netflix original series would debut after the cast released photos last month of their wrap party at a roller rink. The most recent rumor had the date as April 25th after a supposed Google glitch.

Fans have another reason to be excited for the second season as creator Jenji Kohan has confirmed that Laura Prepon will be in "most of" the season. Rumors swirled last year that Prepon's character Alex Vause would not return for the second season as her character had broken up with Taylor Schilling's character Piper Chapman. In addition to Prepon, there was also some concern that Taryn Manning may be MIA for the second season when she was mysteriously absent for the cast wrap party. However, she is confirmed to still be apart of the series as well.

Kohan has stated in recent interviews that this season will focus more on the backstories of the other inmates as opposed to Chapman. She acknowledged that Chapman's character is a huge part of the story and the fans have gotten to see a lot of how she ended up in prison. However, Kohan believes there is a lot of story to be told with the supporting characters including fan favorite Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren played by Uzo Aduba.

Fans will be able to stream all 13 episodes of the series when it debuts on June 6th.
