Orange County Restaurant Week will kick off its sixth year with preview events prior to the 2014 restaurant week, which will be held Sunday, February 23rd through Saturday, March 1 with more than 100 restaurants participating in the culinary event. Chef demonstrations and a launch party will precede restaurant week.

The Orange County Restaurant Association will present signature chef demonstration and tasting events, which will be ticketed events that are open to the public. One event events will be held Feb. 5 at 5:30 p.m. and presented by Executive Chef Rayne Frey of Tabu Grill of Laguna Beach. The demonstration will be held at the Sub-Zero and Wolf showroom, 151 Kalmus Dr., Suite L-3, Costa Mesa. Guests will be able to interact with the chef and will be served wine and appetizers from BREAD artisan bakery and Cabot Cheese.

Tickets to the demonstration Feb. 5 event are $15 with 100% benefiting Share Our Strength, an organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger in the United States. Tickets are limited and can be obtained at Chef Yvon Goetz of The Winery Restaurant & Wine Bar in Tustin kicked off the chef demonstrations this evening (Jan. 21).

Launch Party

Another event to kick-off the 2014 Orange County Restaurant Week will be a launch party on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Newport Lexus, 3901 MacArthur Blvd., Newport Beach. A portion of ticket sales from this event will benefit Share Our Strength.

During the event, guests will have the opportunity to try signature samples from the following restaurants and sponsors. A complete list of OC Restaurant Week participants is online. Tickets to this event are $95 and must be purchased in advance
