I got a chance to DJ a party last night. It is something I love and don't do often enough anymore, so I was ready for fun! I wasn't disappointed. They came into the building in twos and threes. Dressed in either wonderful Hawaiian garb or looking very ready for the beach. I was impressed by the excitement and love I saw in the whole group. Couples? Nope, fathers and daughters ready to Aloha the evening away!
The Me & My Guy Aloha Dance presented by Girl Scout Orange Service 1 was a great success! As the groups came in they got to have their pictures taken in a super fun way- a photo booth!! Provided by Shawna Galvan, the photo booth was an awesome way to commemorate the fathers and daughters looking so cute in their outfits!
After the photos, everyone got in line to get their Hawaiian dinners that included (since we had little girls involved) chicken nuggets and french fries. There was fruit and more traditional BBQ for anyone not as picky. The dessert was cupcakes and a ice cream sundae bar! Yum! I took home a couple of cupcakes myself. They were so cute, looking like a little beach scene.
After they all ate I got to play with the 170 or so girlies and their dads and got them dancing the night away! They did it all! Conga Line, Limbo, Hokey Pokey, Surf Music, Cha Cha Slide, Grease, Macarena, Electric Slide and one of my on special bits- Magic Sunglasses - where the dads showed off their disco moves. My favorite was a version of The Stroll to the song "Happy" where the couples strutted their stuff down the line! When I played "Let it Go" from the movie "Frozen" the volume of the girls singing nearly knocked the roof off, and the dancing to "My Girl" was so cute I got teary-eyed!
A special Girl Scout shout out to Kamron Rowland and Shawna Galvan for an amazing event. Thanks goes out also to the other helpers that made this event possible.
As is traditional for Girl Scout events there was a service project. This events service collection went to Mary's Kitchen in Orange. A great place to help out anytime. All the couples brought hygiene type items to donate. Mary's Kitchen helps hundreds of homeless people daily in our area!
Great event- great fun- great girls and dads!!! Aloha!!!
