When 27-year old Costa Mesa resident Melanie Chandler responded to a message on the dating website OKCupid she had no idea what she'd be getting herself into.
"He had a picture that was kind of hot and he said he was from Brazil and a pro soccer scout. Wouldn't you be curious too?" Chandler asked.
They agreed to meet on a Tuesday afternoon at Starbucks in Huntington Beach. He was forty minutes late and blamed traffic. Chandler says that he did not look like what she'd been hoping for from his pictures.
When they sat down to chat Chandler discovered that he had played professional soccer in Brazil for six years. She found this very attractive and was hopeful that she could grow fond of him.
"But he kept looking all over the place. Anywhere but at me. I felt like I was doing a post-game interview with Lamar Odom.
"Then he launched into this lecture on life and I couldn't get a word in edgewise. He was dead certain he had all the answers. I was looking at him like he was George W. Bush and Tony Robbins' illegitimate son."
"Eventually, after a lot of annoyance on my part, he allowed me to say that I didn't get the impression he wanted to learn anything about me and that he didn't seem to care what I had to say. He actually interrupted me to say, 'I don't care.'
"I didn't even say goodbye. Just took two steps and was out the door."
Chandler has since closed her OKCupid account and has redoubled her efforts in football and basketball fantasy leagues.

Mmmm... if he was self-centered, you were "quiet" and a bit "stupid" too. How come you reached the conclusion within a few minutes and thought you "dumped" him by walking on him out like that? If you are looking for guys who'd agree with everything you'd say and not hear someone else' BS, then obviously you are not ready for dating at all. Or maybe you are just into guys who'd readily listen to your Bcrap and look @ boobs
