The Florida Highway Patrol says it is investigating the death of a Volusia County 16-year old early Thursday morning. FHP spokesperson Sgt. Kim Montes says the teenage boy from Orange City was hit by a car at around 6:45 a.m. Thursday at U.S. 17-92 and Ohio Avenue. Investigating troopers report that the boy “walked directly into the path” of a van driven by a 35-year old Deltona woman. The accident happened as the van was driving north on U.S. 17-92 in the right lane, and the boy was crossing the road from east to west, around fifteen feet north of the crosswalk.
