Oral-B, the popular maker of dental care products, has launched a new interactive oral care application for kids, according to a WebProNews article published on March 5, 2014.

The new interactive application has been named the Disney Magic Timer and its goal is simple. It aims to get kids to brush their teeth for a longer period of time for better overall cleaning. Dentists recommend at least 2 minutes of brushing time for optimal oral health and the Disney Magic Timer helps children reach that goal.

Other toothbrushes play music as a means to encourage longer brushing time, but the Disney Magic Timer works a little differently. After 2 minutes of brushing, the application activates by displaying Disney and Marvel character images. Children can unlock up to 16 images, which are worth up to 1,600 rewards. By turning tooth brushing into a game, kids are more likely to brush longer and parents can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that kids are getting their teeth cleaner than before.

To raise awareness of the Disney Magic Timer, Oral-B parent company Proctor & Gamble has partnered with Olympic Gold Medalist Dominque Moceanu. A mother to two children, Moceanu is asking parents to share stories and videos via Instagram, telling the world some of the outrageous steps they have taken or would take to encourage children to brush their teeth more frequently and more effectively.

“As a mom, I know how impossible it can be to instill healthy oral care habits in my kids” said Moceanu. “I have gone to great lengths including singing our ABC's and tickling my children to get them to brush. That is why I am so excited to partner with Oral-B and use the new app with my children.”

Another piece of the promotional puzzle is the Disney Magical Time in New York City Sweepstakes. Parents can win a vacation in New York City that will include travel kits, Oral-B and Crest dental care products, and a tablet to download the new application. Parents know well the challenges in getting children to brush their teeth. The Disney Magic Timer helps to tackle the problem in a fun way and studies by Proctor and Gamble have confirmed its effectiveness.
