Options abound this week in Orlando live music

This coming week, April 14-20 in Orlando local music promises to be another good one, but then again aren’t they all? It’s a great week to be a music fan in Orlando with so many terrific options for events.

On Monday is the first official gathering for The Orlando Musicians Guild (OMG). This speed dating styled event between musicians, song writers, venue owners, talent buyers, producers, promoters and other industry professionals is a great idea to help unite the local music scene and open up more opportunities for all.

Wednesday, singer/songwriter Matt MacKelcan (formerly of Orlando) heads back to town for a show with Bob Schneider at The Social. It has been too long since MacKelcan has played a show in Orlando.

At a House of Blues show on Friday, Orlando band Liquid Spiral will introduce their new bass player, Erick O. Morales. They will be playing the Orlando Rocks Latin Edition show with Materia Rústika, N-Fusion, Gabriel Casiano and BOLETOAMARTE.

The ninth annual Central Florida Earth Day celebration takes place Saturday at Lake Eola in Orlando. Among the festivities there will be two stages of live music with performances from Patrick Bell, Lauren Galant, Brian McCoy, Scott Forbes, Ben Cook, Wildly, Gayle, Caiti Patton, The Dealers, ZEROtaiko, Claire and The Potatoes, Kam, Foxy Lady Williams and Tessa Marie.

Even music fans that can’t make it out to shows this week can help support local music by tuning in to WPRK. The Rollins College radio station plays a lot of music from local artists during various shows. Check out The Local Heroes Radio Show from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesdays, The Whitney Costner Radio Show from 12-2 p.m. every Thursday or Biscuits, Bacon and Blues every Sunday at 10 a.m. with Jerry Waller, or better yet, keep the station tuned in for all their great shows.
