The television mogul told the Hollywood Reporter:
"If I had kids, my kids would hate me.They would have ended up on the equivalent of the Oprah show talking about me; because something [in my life] would have had to suffer and it would've probably been them."
Winfrey, now 59, has not hidden the fact that at 14 she gave birth to a baby who only lived for a number of weeks. She said her attitude about having children is quite different from her best friend Gayle King.
She explains, "Gayle [now a mother of two] was the kind of kid who, in seventh grade home ec class, was writing down her name and the names of her children. While she was having those kind of daydreams, I was having daydreams about how I could be Martin Luther King."
Even without children, Oprah insists her life has been fulfilled. She is one of the richest women on the planet and the first African-American female billionaire. She had a daytime television talk show for 25 years, and now she operates the television network, OWN.
Oprah had a "yard sale" in November where she reportedly sold $600,000 worth of items for charity, including lamps, teapots and sofas in an effort to make space for her new life. She is hoping to move from Chicago to Montecito by the time she turns 60 in Jan. 2014.
While some women are not fulfilled with children, Oprah admits children were never part of her daydreams.
