In an interview with Shaun Robinson on the celebrity television show “Access Hollywood,” mega-wealthy 59-year-old Oprah Winfrey - best known for her former daytime talk show, acting career which included the current movie “The Butler” and previously “The Color Purple,” and her former diehard support for President Barack Obama – has revealed that she suffered a near-nervous breakdown in 2012, according to a Monday report in the New York Daily News.
Winfrey said that it was just sort of speeding and a kind of numbness and going from one thing to the next thing to the next thing. She admitted that she though if she didn’t calm down she’d be in serious trouble. Winfrey went on to say that while she was in the middle of doing voice-overs, she remembered closing her eyes in between each page because looking at the page and the words at the same time was too much stimulation for her brain.
Winfrey, the owner of OWN television, said it really hit her when she was interviewing Jason Russell – the director of “Kony 2012” - in October of 2012. Russell had a very public breakdown in March in which he ran around naked vandalizing cars and masturbating. Winfrey, again, said she only came close to having a nervous breakdown.
Last year, Winfrey was extremely busy with the making of her latest film “The Butler” and with saving her business – both of which have turned out extremely successful.
