Darlene Love who’s featured in the Oscar nominated documentary “20 Feet From Stardom” will see her life story turned into a television movie on Oprah Winfrey’s network. On Monday Feb. 10 The Hollywood Reporter reported that OWN will adapt the legendary songbird’s memoir “My Name is Love: The Darlene Love Story” into the network’s first scripted movie. Winfrey and Love will both serve as executive producers for the film.
Love’s iconic voice graced many Rock & Roll hits from the ‘60s. Her story can be currently seen in the documentary “20 Feet From Stardom” along with those of other unsung backup singers. The film which hit the festival circuit and appeared in theaters last year recently picked up an Academy Award nomination for best documentary feature. OWN will also broadcast the documentary in 2015.
In addition to music Love has made her mark in television and film. Movie fans will best remember her from the “Lethal Weapon” franchise which starred Danny Glover and Mel Gibson. Love played the wife of Glover’s character in the films.
