Queen of Daytime Oprah Winfrey has had a big sweeps style week with numerous major stars . On tomorrows show (Friday November 20) she will announce she is ending her long run on daytime in 2011. Talk about going out with a Bang!
The first broadcast of the Oprah Winfrey show nationally began September 8, 1986. Over the years she has interviewed everyday people,experts,authors, and stars like the King of Pop Michael Jackson , which became the fourth most watched event in American TV history and most watched interview ever, with an audience of one hundred million.

She soon parlayed her popularity into a one woman mega corporation called "Harpo Productions". Winfrey has produced films, Broadway shows, co authored numerous books and her own magazine called "O Magazine". On February 9, 2006 Winfrey announced she had signed a three-year, $55 million contract with XM Satellite Radio to start a new radio channel. The channel, which is called Oprah & Friends, features show favorites of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and "O Magazine".

Winfrey plans for the future include her move to her very own channel! Winfrey and Discovery Communications plan to change the "Discovery Health Channe"l into a new channel called "OWN". The initials stand for "Oprah Winfrey Network". OWN plans to debut in 2010 and will be available in millions of homes because of the present position of Discovery Health Channel.
So no worries Oprah devotees... you can still get your Oprah fix by turning the dial!
