Oprah Winfrey is starting her own cable TV network, and may just take her millions of viewers of The Oprah Winfrey Show with her, much to the dismay of the stations currently airing the syndicated show.
The network, called OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network), is owned by Discovery Communications, owner of the Discovery Channel. The original deal between Discovery and Oprah is to have OWN replace the flailing Discovery Health channel. Doing this would immediately bring the new OWN channel into 70 million homes. This isn't Oprah's first foray into cable television -- the Oxygen Network, which she co-founded and launched in 2000, was sold to NBC Universal in 2007 for $925 million.
While Oprah has confirmed that she is moving forward with OWN, she would not say if she would be moving her show to the new cable channel, or if she would move the taping from Chicago to Los Angeles. She did say that her people at Harpo Studio in Chicago "should not worry" about their jobs, but she did lament that she could do with out Chicago's harsh winters.
Oprah also said there were a "variety of factors" at work, but that she would "make that decision and make that announcement soon."

If Oprah takes her tv show to cable then what about the viewer that does not have cable?? Not being able to see Oprah would be very sad. Think this through Oprah!
