Three of the biggest names in the entertainment industry have teamed up with First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden to support and honor the military.
Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks filmed public service announcements to call for support for members of the military, their families and veterans.
Media mogul Winfrey, director and former CSULB student Spielberg and actor Hanks have each starred in a 30-second PSA, and all three will air on various major networks and cable channels during the coming weeks.
The PSAs were produced for Joining Forces, an organization which Obama and Biden created to support members of the service and their family members.
“As a military mom, I know just how much it means when people reach out to show their support for our service members and their families,” Biden said. “The first lady and I hope that this campaign will inspire more Americans to take action and reach out to military families in their own communities around the country.”
The PSAs were filmed with Skype in order to represent 21st century communication. Several organizations, including the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, Directors Guild of America, Producers Guild of America, Screen Actors Guild and the Writers Guild of America West have all teamed up to produce and direct the announcements.
