Oprah Winfrey may have celebrated her 60th birthday quietly, but that didn’t stop Ellen DeGeneres from giving Oprah a huge gift. According to People Magazine on Jan. 29, Ellen presented the global media star with a giant sequined portrait of herself on Wednesday’s airing of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”.
Ellen presented the gift with humor of course. She claimed that she was actually the artist who spent time on the portrait. And since it was such a big birthday, the time spent of worth it. As she revealed the portrait she says on the show:
“I spent a lot of time on it. Pretty. Each one hand-done. Took me months to do that thing.”
Ellen then placed a phone called to her good friend Oprah to let her know that she had to pick up her gift in person. She explained:
“Oprah is my friend. I have her number because I stole it from Stedman [Graham’s] phone when I was at their house one time.”
The charade went on as Oprah supposedly “answered” the call and promised to reciprocate a gift for Ellen’s upcoming 56th birthday.
As Ellen DeGeneres has become the queen of daytime talk shows, she has huge respect for Oprah Winfrey who preceded her and its not the first time she has mentioned Oprah and their personal relationship. During her People’s Choice speech she referenced Oprah of being a big fan of her show.
Perhaps one day Oprah will appear on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and let viewers know just how true that is.
