World’s Toughest Rodeo and K102 are holding a contest for 45 little cowpokes to participate in the first ever “World’s Toughest Mutton Bustin’ Competition” at Xcel Energy Center on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m.

Mutton bustin’ is a rodeo event in which kids hold on tight to sheep and ride wild, as if they are on a bull. Anthony Lucia (World’s Toughest Rodeo announcer and star of A&E reality series “Rodeo Girls”), will be on hand to school the young cowpokes on how to properly ride the sheep and get ready for the competition.

Parents can visit k102.com to enter their little cowboy or cowgirl (ages 4 – 8, cannot weigh more than 50 pounds). A drawing will take place for 45 lucky winners and will be posted online at k102.com on Monday, Jan. 27 at 10 a.m.

The winners will take part in three rounds of mutton bustin’ each with 15 competitors. Judges will announce the top three “Busters” based on time, style and creativity.

Each participating child will receive a cowboy hat and an official “World’s Toughest Mutton Buster” certificate. The three top “Busters” will also receive a championship belt buckle, four (4) tickets to the Friday night rodeo and a chance to mutton bust at the rodeo on Friday night.

World's Toughest Rodeo™ takes place Friday - Saturday, Jan. 31 - Feb. 1 at Xcel Energy Center starting at 7:30 p.m. each night. Tickets are on sale now at the Xcel Energy Center Box Office, Ticketmaster Ticket Centers, charge by phone at 800-745-3000 or online at ticketmaster.com. Group rates (12+) are also available by calling 651-312-3486.
