It's been about 72 hours since Jeremiah Mieses became paralyzed after being run over by a man driving a Range Rover driven by Alexian Lien The motorcycles were riding to Times Square in NYC in an unauthorized ride. Once of the riders filmed the ride and shows the bikers breaking numerous traffic laws and endangering the lives of other motorists. Today, Oct 2 2013 The NY District Attorney has declined to press charges against one of the bikers, for the present time at least..
At one point a biker cuts in front of Lien's vehicle and slams on his breaks, causing the Range Rover to bump into the rear tire of the bike.no one was hurt. What should have happened is the biker and driver of the vehicle should have pulled to the side of the road and waited for police. However, that is not what happened. Lien, who was traveling with his wife and infant child feared for his life as the rest of the bikers surrounded his vehicle.
Some began punching the vehicle, breaking the windows and engaging in illegal behavior. It is clear that they should not have become involved . Lien the drove forward, up and over one motorcycle and it's rider, Jay Mieses. The crowd of bikers chased his to a traffic backlog and started to break the windows of the SUV.
A call had been raised across the country to arrest the bikers who were responsible . One man, Allen Edwards turned himself in an is not being charged at this time. Apparently the District Attorney does not think they can make a case. Edwards is clearly seen punching the rear window and is amid the ruckus. Another biker, Christopher Cruz of Passaic NJ was also not going to be charged but , due to public pressure and the NYPD being relentless, , he was eventually charged with endangering the welfare of a child and reckless driving.
Lien was slashed in the face when one of the biker gang slashed him in the face and stomped on his head. Police are looking for him. They have tons of videos to sift through.. In fact the original video that started the controversy was uploaded online . The person who taped it then made a futile attempt to take it down. You can see the entire video here. Many people are bothered that the guy who recorded it was more concerned with getting page views than helping the police. The video is online and online to stay. Once you put something like this online it is virtually impossible to remove it.
People from both camps are in an uproar. The people that support the bikers are demanding Lien be arrested . They claim he was in no danger and exacerbated the matter. The point to the near fatal injuries Mieses received. They are demanding justice.
The rest of the country is on the side of Lien, citing the bikers own video. The aggressive driving and near fatal moves. They are up in arms and are demanding swift arrests for all of the bikers.
Police in the mean time are looking at toll records and cameras to determine what bikers were with this group. They say more arrests will be forthcoming. At this point Lien is not being charged .
