Opinion: postal employee allegedly tossed out mail

If you are a Long Island resident who has not received their mail lately, you're not the only one.

Recently, a Long Island mailman has been accused of discarding people's mail while on his route, which included areas of Nassau County, such as Massapequa and Seaford. He has been arraigned, on charges of illegally throwing out hundreds of packages and letters, which he had apparently started doing months ago.

The motive for this bizarre behavior? Apparently, the young man just did not feel like delivering the mail or packages to residents. An investigation began, following numerous complaints from residents saying that they were not getting their mail.

With so many people across our nation currently unemployed and looking for work, it is truly a shame that this person managed to find employment with the postal service.

Clearly, this person did not want to do the job that he was hired for. If he did not feel like delivering the mail or packages to people, he should have simply quit and given the civil service position to someone that truly wanted and deserved a job.
