Opie rips Howard Stern every which way on Twitter (Photos)

Howard Stern has been around a long time, and he's still pissing people off as much as he did thirty years ago.

The latest evidence of Stern's inherent power of provocation came this week when his long time radio rival Greg "Opie" Hughes from "The Opie and Anthony Show" launched an all out Twitter war on the King of All Media without warning.

Hughes, who is also employed by Sirius XM, posted a series of tweets blaming Howard Stern for ruining Sirius XM stock, tanking the ratings for "America's Got Talent" and screwing over his writing staff.

Time to educate the idiots @HowardStern is the reason the stock has been sh*t for years. @HowardStern is the reason satellite never exploded

Fact - @HowardStern hurt America's Got Talent and did not grow the audience. Rating were noticeably down.

in closing-philosophy of the company pay @HowardStern most of programing budget and the subscribers will come. Fell well short of this goal

and don't be stupid I don't fault @Howard for having a ridiculous contract. My point...IT DIDN'T COME CLOSE TO PAYING OFF FOR SIRIUS.

Then, Hughes insulted Stern's use of in-studio comedy writers to punch up his live broadcasts:

I know this much. I'm WAY FUNNIER than @HowardStern and never needed a fulltime comedy writer to feed me lines & make believe they were mine

and how did he take care of the fulltime comedy writer? Not giving him the money he deserved.

Hughes is presumably referring to ex-Stern Show comedy writer Jackie Martling, who left the show in 2001 after failing to negotiate a pay raise. He has since literally begged Howard Stern to let him back on the show. Stern has consistently declined the opportunity to return Martling to the "Jackie Chair".

Hughes had one more low blow for Stern before he was through Wednesday night, also ridiculing Stern's self-appointed title of "King of All Media," tweeting:

And for someone who claims to be THE KING OF ALL MEDIA @HowardStern stinks at @Twitter and his photography is beginner sh*t at best.

Stern joined Twitter in early 2011, and immediately dazzled fans by live tweeting behind the scenes info about his film "Private Parts" when a fan tweeted him it was playing on cable.

In December 2011, Stern used his Twitter account to get up close and personal with his fans, asking them to send their phone numbers to his account and then calling them at home to wish them a Happy New Year. Read the story here
