Great product, ethical company
A great product from a company with a conscience
Opie & Dixie Healing Paw Balm is an amazing product, and at my house it isn’t even used on paws!
This product is promoted for use on dry, cracked, calloused or sore paw pads. I don’t have any paw pads at my house (rabbits) but I do have a rabbit prone to urine scald (“diaper rash”) and itchy ear surfaces. I personally have dry, cracked, calloused and occasionally sore hands from too much weather exposure, frequent handwashing and too often forgetting to wear gardening gloves.
This is good stuff. I have tried various substances on the inner surface of Oreo’s ears; there are no ear mites, fungus or infection, the veterinarian says Oreo just has dry skin. The best product I’d used was coconut oil but the soothing effects never seemed to last long enough, and the coconut oil was…well…oil, and it was drippy and could be messy.
The Healing Paw Balm is a soft solid, which makes it easy to apply just the amount you want. It is not greasy, yet the emollient effect lasts a good 24 hours. The fragrance is wonderful, yet subtle (nothing that would disturb a sensitive rabbit).
Healing Paw Balm contains: Sweet Almond Oil, Olive Oil, Shea Butter, Aloe Vera, Calendula Petals, Chamomile, Comfrey Root, Jojoba Seed Oil, Beeswax, Plantain, Vitamin E, Essential Oils of Lavender, Rosemary, Tea Tree and Basil. The oils are used in a safe, diluted form, as pure essential oils are not to be applied directly to the skin; the beeswax is cruelty-free beeswax.

You can still rub my ears
This company is like a dream come true
Check this out: the ingredients are all certified organic with no synthetics, chemicals or pesticides. There are no synthetic fragrances or unpronounceable words or mysterious abbreviations (“TEA, DEA, MEA, EDTA”). The website provides detailed information on each and every ingredient used in their products, NONE of which are tested on animals, nor are the raw ingredients.
Many of the ingredients are biodynamically farmed: the soil, crops, animals, and even the farmer perform as one united, self-contained entity. Traditional farming preparations intrinsically harm the soil, while biodynamic farming preparations enhance the structure and replenish the soil with the use of holistic herbs and minerals.
The labels are biodegradable and made with 100% wind power using plant-based, non-toxic ink and natural, non-toxic glue, and are printed on FSC certified, forest-friendly eco-paper. The containers are made of either recyclable tins or BPA-free plastic. Wait, there's more! The brochures are printed on 100% Recycled, 50% Post-consumer waste paper, processed chlorine free using vegetable or soy-based ink.
Oh, and by the way, I have used a great many natural (and unnatural) products on my hands over the years, and I had dramatic, lasting results after using this on my trashed hands. Dramatic.
Two ounces of Healing Paw Balm cost 14.95 and can be ordered through the Opie & Dixie online shop.
Damon (pictured) does not have itchy ears, but he would still love it if you adopted him so you could rub his ears each and every night. He is waiting for you at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton.

Just for bunnies? Wonder if this would work on the calloused elbows of overweight or large breed dogs? No problem if they lick their paws and ingest this?
Thanks
That's absolutely darling! I think I'll get some to keep in my purse and pull out to apply it in public now and then for the world to see.
Should work fine to soften up calloused elbows on dogs (or people!). No problem if ingested - all the ingredients are natural and non-toxic. No alcohol, no funky chemicals.
