If you are one of the many models, actors, dancers and musical performers living in LA who won't be going home for the holidays, and you're looking for ways to beat the holiday blues in Los Angeles, there is still time to take part in the act of giving by joining one of the many Operation Santa holiday giving events currently happening throughout Southern California.
USPS Letters to Santa
The original Operation Santa, also known as 'Letters to Santa' is sponsored by the US Postal Service. Each year since 1912, this program has provided children in need the opportunity to have their 'Dear Santa letters' answered by community businesses and individuals. This year there are three locations in Los Angeles where you can sign up to give a monetary donation or wrapped gift(s).
To get involved: Bring a valid photo ID on Thursday, December 12th or Tuesday, December 17th between 11am and 1pm to one of the following participating Letters to Santa USPS locations: 7001 S. Central Avenue, Los Angeles; 3101 W. Sunflower Avenue, Santa Ana; 28201 Franklin Pkwy, Santa Clarita.
In the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys, the Universal City / North Hollywood Jaycees and the Pasadena Jaycees both have 'Operation Santa' programs underway, and are in need of volunteer elves and Santas to deliver gifts to needy families on Christmas Eve.
Throughout Los Angeles, the Toys for Tots program is collecting new, unwrapped toys (with a minimum $10 value) to deliver to Southern California children in need.
To get involved: Check the list of Toys for Tots drop-off locations in Southern California, and bring an unwrapped, new toy as a donation.
