Milwaukee-area runners and walkers will step out in a race on Saturday, October 19, to help orphaned children in Kenya.
The Operation Give Hope Run-Walk for African Orphans, including both a 5K run and a 3K walk, takes place at South Shore Park, located at 2900 South Shore Drive, in Milwaukee.
Race-day sign-in begins at 8:30 a.m., with the 5K running race start following at 9:30 a.m. at the South Shore Park Pavilion. The 3K walk sets off at 9:35 a.m.
Event organizers encourage spectators and participants to show up with shoes … lots of shoes. The goal is to collect 25,000 pounds of donated shoes to earn a significant promised matching grant from a major donor.
Proceeds from the Operation Give Hope Run-Walk for African Orphans will help fund the building of a pregnancy crisis center in Africa and assist homeless orphans in Kenya.
Online registration is offered for the Operation Give Hope Run-Walk for African Orphans on October 19 in Milwaukee.
