If you want to expose your children to opera, March 22 is the perfect time do it when Opera Colorado and Denver Arts & Venues present a free "Family Day at the Opera" in the lobby of the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in downtown Denver.

The opera company's 2014 Young Artists will perform a live abridged version of Rossini's Barber of Seville, sung in English instead of Italian. This is the production that Opera Colorado performs in schools and communities across Colorado. The show will start at 10 a.m. and last a little less than an hour. There will be a short time for questions after the performance.

The morning includes refreshments for purchase, crafts and entertainment. The performance is free; but due to limited space, you must RSVP. To print out tickets and RSVP, visit Eventbrite. You also can get tickets by calling Opera Colorado’s Box Office at 303-468-2030. More at Age Recommendation: K – 12

The Barber of Seville is a comedic opera about a barber in the city of Seville, Spain who helps Count Almaviva court the beautiful Rosina. But Rosina's guardian Bartolo keeps close tabs on her as he wants to marry her. Crazy antics abound and even Berta the maid gets involved. No challenge is too great for Figaro’s madcap schemes. Filled with some of opera’s most famous tunes, this is a comedy not to miss!
