It’s that time of year again! The San Diego Padres baseball season kicks off with a bang on Sunday, March 30th at Petco Park. They’ll be playing the Los Angeles Dodgers and almost nothing gets San Diegans more riled up then a SD vs. LA game. In honor of this epic event, a number of venues Downtown will offer specials galore. So if you can’t make the game, join in on the revelry.

San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter

If you were lucky enough to score tickets to this coveted game, you may want to check this situation out. The San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter is offering a special Eat-Play-Park promotion for game goers. Free valet parking will be available at the hotel when patrons make a minimum purchase of $25 at Soleil @k or Latitude Lounge (both within the hotel) on all home game days. This hotel is the closest hotel to Petco Park, measuring in at just 90 steps away from the stadium.

East Village Block Party

Maybe you didn’t score tickets to this popular game, but still want to enjoy the festivities? Or perhaps you did and are looking for some pre-game partying? East Village San Diego will be throwing its 4th Annual Opening Day Block Party from 10am-7pm on Sunday, March 30th. On J Street between 6th and 10th Avenues, patrons can enjoy craft beer from Mission Brewery, Monkey Paw, and Stone Brewing Co., as well as live music, line dancing on J Street, and much more. This event is free and open to the public (And conveniently located steps from the ball park).

The Blind Burro

Enjoy Baja-Med inspired Mexican food at the Blind Burro. Featuring a wrap-around bar and outdoor seating, it’s the perfect place to people watch while sipping on a margarita. Their game day specials will include; $4 Tecate, Tecate Light and Dos XX Cans, $8 TJ Dog & Tecate Can, and their new specialty cocktail, the Piñata Punch ($9) which features Maestro Dobel tequila, lychee liquor, and citrus & soda.

Cat Eye Club

Next door to the Blind Burro, you’ll find the quaint cocktail lounge that is the Cat Eye Club. Known primarily for their hand-crafted cocktails, the Cat Eye features large, open window seating, so cocktail-drinkers can enjoy the splendor of those game-goers walking by. This baseball season, the Cat Eye will offer Friday-Sunday pre-game specials 2 hours before the game starts, including $7 Cat Tai’s, $15 Scorpion Bowls, and $4 beer specials.

Southpaw Social Club

Located adjacent to Petco Park, Southpaw’s three outdoor patios feature stellar views of the park, and a fun, casual ambiance. This baseball season, Southpaw will offer a special BBQ menu on all home game days. Items will include a tri tip sandwich with IPA mustard, arugula, white cheddar and ciabatta for $10, a smoked BBQ pork shoulder with German potato salad, baked beans, and corn on the cobb for $10, a hot dog with peppers and onions for $6, and a smoked rib-eye sandwich with Dijon mustard, mayo, crispy red onion, on a brioche bun for $10.

Moonshine Flats

The newly-opened Moonshine Flats, the spot known for rockin’ your cowboy boots for some good ol’ country time, will offer a place to party post-game. On game days, there will be no line and no cover when guests present their game day ticket stub. Select beers and cocktails will be $3.50 from 7pm-Close on Thursdays, and 7pm-9pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Picnic People’s SD Tailgates

Picnic People will be hosting the official tailgate party for Opening Day. This event promises to make the pre-game experience easier for baseball fans, with an all-inclusive tailgate. This tailgate experience includes a game ticket, a plate of specially crafted Padres vs. Dodgers menu, which will consist of a Mexican taco plate with salad, chips and salsa. The tailgate will also include local craft beer, tailgate games, fast pitch contests with prizes, music, and more. Ticket prices will increase closer to Opening Day, and are quickly selling out.
