In separate reports published yesterday (2/5/2014), the actual opening dates of the new SLS Las Vegas Hotel and Casino as well as the LINQ High Roller observation wheel are now known. SLS Las Vegas, which is the result of renovations to the iconic Sahara on the North Strip, will debut this Labor Day weekend ( Friday before Sept. 1, 2014) according to SBE Entertainment (owners of the SLS). The High Roller Ferris wheel at the LINQ site will open on March 1, 2014 according to Vegas Chatter.
** Info update 3/1/2014 - The High Roller observation / Ferris / Big Deal wheel opening date has been delayed indefinitely ; the actual date is unknown as of this update. Think April 2014...maybe.
SBE Entertainment management and crews have nearly completed the massive gutting and makeover of the old iconic Sahara resort that began in June 2011. SBE estimates that 8600 jobs will be created with the new property and that it will add about $400 million to the local economy. The new property will feature approximately 1600 rooms and suites along with multiple dining, shopping, and nightlife options.
Ticket costs for the High Roller will hinge on time of day with three options available. Early Bird rides (10 A.M. until 2 P.M.) cost $25 per person. Twilight Flight tickets (2 P.M. until 8 P.M.) will cost $30 each. Night Owl rides (8 P.M. until 2 A.M.) cost $35 each. Passengers will be boarded on the wheel every 15 minutes, with each ride involving a 30 minute ride comprised of one full revolution of the big wheel.
